THE WORK

Emily’s teaching philosophy spawns from the multiplicity of her training. In whatever she teaches, she values correctness of form, efficiency of motion, musicality, availability, and purity/richness in expression. If it’s not coming from the heart, it’s not coming from the right place.

Emily currently regularly teaches her first love, Classical Ballet, to over 200 students ages 9 - 18 and adult beginners - professionals at Performing Arts Workshop . In the last few years her students have been accepted to programs such as ABT New York, North Carolina School for the Arts, Kibbutz Contemporary Ensemble, Boston Ballet, LINES Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Pittsburg Ballet Theatre, The Harid Conservatory, Burklyn Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, The Rock School for Dance, University of Utah, Bolshoi New York, Anaheim Ballet, and Joffrey Ballet Chicago. Emily is greatly inspired by the teachings of Larry Rosenberg Co-Director of Anaheim Ballet, Laura Wade, and Elena Kunikova.

Emily’s training has always had Classical Ballet at it’s back bone, she attend Columbia College Chicago where she earned her BFA in Dancemaking and was supported, shaped, and radically challenged in her training and ideas about what dance was and could be. She has had the immense pleasure and honor of studying under Darrell Jones, Bonnie Brooks, Carrie Hansen, Peter Carpenter, Dardi McGinley Gallivan, David Dorfman, Lisa Gonzales, Richard Woodbury, and Kate Corby among others. Emily danced for Kate Corby & Dancers from 2009 - 2014. She is currently a company member of LITVAKdance under the direction of Sadie Weinberg. Emily teaches workshops and classes in improvisation, dancemaking, and modern techniques as well. Check the Performance Arts Workshop website for teaching schedule.
